2007-2008 Year in Review
Interact Community Service Club has made a huge difference in our school and
community during the 2007-2008 school year. Members gave of their time kicking off the
Homecoming Parade by serving coffee, hot chocolate and donuts to current students, staff and alum
alike. Several members also participated in the Pancake Breakfast to raise money for two
students to go to RYLA, a leadership training weekend held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Matthew
Glowicki and an in-bound Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Katharina Klingen, attended together and
brought back many great ideas for the club. October continued to be a busy month, as Interact
hosted its 13th Annual Leon Eich Memorial Volleyball Tournament at the North Campus Field House
raising over $1,000. Proceeds were split and donated to the Heifer Project and Bear
Necessities Cancer Foundation. When the dead of winter hit, Interact piled into the North
Campus Field House again and sold Dippin’ Dots at Pack the Place. With the help of the LTHS
community and neighboring Proviso High School fans, Interact Club was able to raise $100 each for
Ronald McDonald House and Pillars. Interact Club brought those checks to the Ronald McDonald
and Pillars Communities and spent additional time there sprucing up the grounds for its residents.
Interact Club has supported and volunteered at various organizations including Pillars Women’s
Shelter in LaGrange, a local soup kitchen, First Congressional Church, Project Linus Blanket Days,
Adopt a Highway, the Pilgrim Pacer, Greater Chicago Food Depository, and the Ronald McDonald House
near Loyola Hospital. With the help of the LaGrange Rotary Club, we also paired up with the
Early Act Club at Gurrie Middle School and plan on finishing up the year with a joint meeting of
its officers and members.
