John E. Greenlee is a 1958 graduate of LTHS. He received a bachelor's degree from Hamilton College in New York in 1962 and then studied at the Freie University in Berlin, Germany before additional pre-medical courses at Columbia School of General Studies. He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1969, before training in neurology at the University of Virginia Hospital from 1969 to 1974. Dr. Green lee is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology and is Professor and Vice-Chairman of the Neurology Service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He specializes in general neurology, with interest in remote effects of cancer and in infections of the central nervous system. In addition to practicing and teaching, he serves on numerous academic and national committees and organizations. Before joining the University of Utah, he served as a Fellow in Neurology (Neurovirology) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and then as Assistant and Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Virginia. Named one of the Best Doctors in America in 1994 and 1998, Dr. Greenlee is an invited lecturer at seminars across the nation. An author of 40 journal articles, 35 book chapters, and more than 50 abstracts, Dr. Greenlee continues his research, which has earned him more than a dozen grants.
