Educator Accolades :::
Double kudos to Maureen Laude, North Campus Math teacher, for her invitation by the College Board Advanced Placement Program to serve as an AP Reader at this year’s annual AP Reading and a second invitation extended to her by the North Central Association to train as a Quality Assurance Review Chair for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Joann Pyritz, North Campus Physical Education teacher and Associate Division
Chairperson for Physical Wellness, has been appointed to a 3-year term to the IHSA Boys & Girls
Volleyball Advisory Committee. Committee members are chosen for their cooperativeness,
responsibility, respect, experience and knowledge. Additionally, on April 10, 2007, at the
conclusion of the match against Downers Grove North, Joann and her team earned her 300th career
victory in boys’ volleyball - this feat is juxtaposed to her 500+ career victories in girl’s
volleyball!
Congratulations to French teacher
Donna Czarnecki who was named the 2007 recipient of the Intercultural Student
Experiences Language Matters Award. Recipients excel in motivating their high school students to
speak a foreign language through exemplary motivation and creative methods. They must also have
provided authentic immersion experiences for their students to use outside the
classroom. Donna will receive the award at the AATF conference in Baton Rouge. In addition,
she competed in LaGrande Dictee, a writing contest, and earned 8th place among university, high
school and junior high school French teachers in the nation. The contest was administered at the
national convention of the American Association of Teachers of French that took place in
Milwaukee.
