Eurythmics 2008 :::
LT Eurythmic dancers set to take Philly by storm
Eighteen members of the Lyons Township High School Eurythmic Dance Company are off
to Philadelphia, PA in March for the ninth annual National Dance Festival. They will be performing “
Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” choreographed by world renowned choreographer Randy Duncan, with
complex lifts and spectacular costumes.
The Eurythmic Dance Company has received national honors in four of the past seven national
festivals. Beyond the competitions where dancers have the opportunity to compare their expertise
and training with some of the best dance companies in the nation, the festival offers classes with
some of the most widely known dancers and choreographers. Workshops will challenge them in many
forms of dance, as well as classes on integrating technology, proper nutrition, dance medicine and
more. Scholarships to professional summer workshops, as well as colleges and universities will also
be available.
The Company qualified for the festival after submitting three videotaped performances to the
National Dance Committee in November. After review, LT was invited to perform one of their dances.
