LTHS artists win lion's share of awards, contingent advances to national level

Fifteen pieces of artwork by 11 Lyons Township High School student artists will advance to the Scholastic Art Awards national competition in New York, where they will join approximately 15,000 other selections from across the country. Judges will critique and choose just 700 winning pieces based on thought, technique, execution, and overall impact. LT's contingent includes five Art Portfolios winners and six Gold Key winners.

Double winners Seniors K. Mueller, S. Millsap, and W. Gurin will advance their Art Portfolios as well as other Gold Award pieces.

All together at the recent Regional Scholastic Art Awards competition, 56 LT students received recognition for 87 pieces of artwork. In addition to the pieces that will advance to national competition, Lion artists received 29 Silver awards and 43 Honorable Mention awards.
